[SPEAKER_09]: Michael Mera, Radio Entertainment.

[SPEAKER_06]: Sure.

[SPEAKER_06]: I'd love to see how she's doing.

[SPEAKER_06]: It's wonderful to have the progeny.

[SPEAKER_05]: I can't believe she got up this early in the morning to come in.

[SPEAKER_05]: I got a very straight face emoji when I said her.

[SPEAKER_05]: Uh, no, I said we're leaving in seven thirty and there is your beautiful beautiful daughter.

[SPEAKER_06]: It is so nice to see you Julia.

[SPEAKER_06]: How are you?

[SPEAKER_12]: I'm good.

[SPEAKER_12]: You guys, you guys interrupted my knitting, but it's okay.

[SPEAKER_06]: Are you really knitting?

[SPEAKER_06]: Are you really knitting something?

[SPEAKER_12]: I was crocheting earlier.

[SPEAKER_12]: I was making a hat, but then I ran of yarn.

[SPEAKER_12]: So now I'm moving back on the knitting.

[SPEAKER_06]: It's constant creativity from you.

[SPEAKER_06]: We're very fair.

[SPEAKER_06]: This is your class though, right?

[SPEAKER_12]: Yeah, my knitting is for a class.

[SPEAKER_12]: My crocheting is for passion.

[SPEAKER_06]: Oh, really?

[SPEAKER_06]: So knitting in you're in a graphic design program at BCU, correct?

[SPEAKER_12]: Yeah, that's a long story.

[SPEAKER_06]: I would, you know, just for all the tuition payers out there, I'm kind of curious, you know, oh, what's she going to undergrad for knitting?

[SPEAKER_06]: What?

[SPEAKER_12]: I'm going with yarn now.

[SPEAKER_06]: So that is your medium.

[SPEAKER_06]: Is that your medium that you're working on?

[SPEAKER_12]: Yeah.

[SPEAKER_06]: Oh my god, yarn.

[SPEAKER_12]: For the most part, sometimes fabric.

[SPEAKER_05]: Well, you've really, also you're still at a point where they're making you do everything, right?

[SPEAKER_12]: Yeah, I did.

[SPEAKER_12]: I think my least favorite thing was spinning my own wool to make my own yarn.

[SPEAKER_12]: I could not get that.

[SPEAKER_08]: Sustainability.

[SPEAKER_12]: I kept thinking about, I mean, when the wool's already spun and knitted, I don't mind it.

[SPEAKER_12]: But then thinking about it in the big pile and making it myself, I feel closer to the animal.

[SPEAKER_12]: I don't really like that.

[SPEAKER_06]: Let me ask you about this so you are that this is what I know and then you can correct me on everything I've got wrong.

[SPEAKER_06]: So I think of you as early

[SPEAKER_06]: and you've been doing this for a long time as very artistic and you're in.

[SPEAKER_06]: I remember you doing graphic design now it sounds to me like you've made and my daughter's made a few pivots when from what she started working and where she is working now.

[SPEAKER_06]: Are you leaning more towards just becoming

[SPEAKER_06]: an artist as opposed to working in graphic design where you're going to have you know your medium because that sounds to me like something I would see in an art gallery working with different mediums is that accurate or is that inaccurate that is actually a good question because I'm figuring that out myself I'm a graphic design major with a crafts minor and I'm looking to do glass blowing next semester

[SPEAKER_12]: um our graphic design program is so open to where if you can justify it you can work with just about everything I know my friend last semester did this really cool like carving out of a wood block and then was able to make all these like super old timey looking prints and that was her like her final thesis and everybody's doing all these crazy things and basically if you can justify it you can do it so if she's done for example like she built a swing

[SPEAKER_12]: Yeah, I built a swing set.

[SPEAKER_05]: She, I mean, designed it and built the whole thing.

[SPEAKER_05]: She made a dress out of Beanie Babies, which was pretty cool.

[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, she's gone in every direction.

[SPEAKER_05]: And I do love the fact that the program at least has her dip or toe in every sort of media.

[SPEAKER_06]: So could she, could you, Julia, could you make the pivot if you got out of school?

[SPEAKER_06]: Could you see yourself making the pivot to do just about whatever struck your fancy in the art world or

[SPEAKER_06]: are you thinking about, you know, working in the business community and advertising and stuff like that.

[SPEAKER_06]: What are you to yourself going?

[SPEAKER_12]: I'm going to pass that.

[SPEAKER_12]: I work at a print shop right now and I think the most exciting thing for me right now just because I'm so into all the different mediums is having people who are like,

[SPEAKER_12]: unfamiliar with the department coming in and asking or like giving me their idea and me being able to like advise them and be like oh well you could do this or this or this with the and like giving them all the options.

[SPEAKER_12]: So I think I'm like I like more of the production side of things for graphic design.
