[SPEAKER_06]: Michael Mera, Radio Entertainment.
[SPEAKER_03]: Ooh, this is to radio, that go where you go medium, go radio That's with you every night, through the long commuter fight And in the morning with your toast and mama radio Ooh, this is to radio, no matter if it's someone just bring a fall
[SPEAKER_03]: Who listens to radio, only 150 million?
[SPEAKER_03]: 150 million people, that's all.
[SPEAKER_03]: Rock, Spira, give your story.
[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, I love Mono.
[SPEAKER_05]: Last week, when you twice the music and half the space,
[SPEAKER_05]: That's the magic of Rob Radio.
[SPEAKER_05]: Volume volume volume volume, turn it up.
[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, it's me, it's me, it's our OWB and good news.
[SPEAKER_05]: I brought along my flat friends, the records.
[SPEAKER_05]: It's the Labor Day Week in addition of Rob Radio.
[SPEAKER_05]: Now, I hope you checked out Rob Radio last week when we did a musical memorial, really, for Dolly Parton.
[SPEAKER_05]: I got a lot of great feedback on that, and I appreciate it.
[SPEAKER_05]: And I don't want you to think that Rob Radio is just a place where we talk about dead people.
[SPEAKER_05]: It's not.
[SPEAKER_05]: Oh, sure, we'll play a lot of dead artists, but, you know, we'll mix it up.
[SPEAKER_05]: However, contrary to what I just said,
[SPEAKER_05]: This week, I'm playing a stack of records that make me think of my father.
[SPEAKER_05]: Now, I'm sure many of you know, my father passed away last February, and when we were planning his memorial, a celebration at Jimmy's Old Town Tavern, it was my task and one that I grabbed with great seal to put together.
[SPEAKER_05]: his favorite songs to play at the celebration.
[SPEAKER_05]: This is a stack of them roughly a quarter of them, but all of the songs you're gonna hear today are reminiscent of my dad.
[SPEAKER_05]: And you're gonna see how musically diverse he was.
[SPEAKER_05]: He like jazz.
[SPEAKER_05]: He loved surf guitar, like what you're hearing right now.
[SPEAKER_05]: This is a song called Drift in by the Sandals.
[SPEAKER_05]: He loved Bruce Springsteen.
[SPEAKER_05]: He loved Motown and soul music.
[SPEAKER_05]: You're just gonna hear so much stuff.
[SPEAKER_05]: You'll get a better idea of the way my dad
[SPEAKER_05]: was musically, and one of the greatest things you left behind to me was an appreciation for all kinds of music.
[SPEAKER_05]: So, let's listen to the music that makes me think of my dad.
[SPEAKER_05]: Now remember this is not, we're not mourning here.
[SPEAKER_05]: This is a celebration of a great man.
[SPEAKER_05]: So, uh, turn it up and get ready.
[SPEAKER_05]: We got some great music for you this Labor Day, and we can start it as soon as I say that the Rod Radion listeners are the best listeners in the world and I'm going to have
[SPEAKER_06]: Yes, he's the Rob Spiewak Show.
[SPEAKER_05]: My dad loved the Beach Boys.
[SPEAKER_03]: In my car, outside your city, In my car, outside your home, And when you're still cold, I'll open your mouth.
[SPEAKER_03]: Teasiers come, I'll send a pair of gloves.
[SPEAKER_03]: We didn't have a phone on, so we're all alone I'll sign the lock you've been with
[SPEAKER_03]: I can't see in the love you Oh, I'm alive, we're both in free Won't be long till summer, time is Summer, time is through Minature, calm and hunkers in the Minature, calm and hunkers in the When we run the horse, we go through
[SPEAKER_03]: So we'll have a lot, so we'll have a lot, so we'll have a lot.
[SPEAKER_05]: I'm so we've been having fun all along We've been having fun all along I hope you had fun all summer long now that it's Labor Day and everything is winding up And I tell you what else my dad loved, my dad loved Motown
[SPEAKER_03]: You go home, if I have a way, please, for yourself a bit, I don't mind, most of you need that much to me, it's a problem.
[SPEAKER_03]: Cryin' me him, there's hair for me With me, since I'm fried But if I have to cry, keep you I don't mind when we bet if you'll keep By my side, baby, why don't we?
[SPEAKER_03]: Sleep all in you, don't you?
[SPEAKER_03]: I have to sleep under the stuff all night and day I've got the key from walking away Let go of the rain's left Even this I can stand Because I want to keep you In the way I can't help me You're on the base You're not in pain All you need to do It's about me
[SPEAKER_03]: I've got a love for me And I'll put it in my heart And he's saying it won't more and more I've not ashamed to come And plead to your baby The feeling keeps you from Walkin' all down Don't need to promenade to see her Oh, don't!
[SPEAKER_05]: O-town but you're sick from Detroit City and that's the tempting temptations.
[SPEAKER_05]: I tell you what, when you play these older records, they are short.
[SPEAKER_05]: So my tip to you is a disjogging.
[SPEAKER_05]: Do not take away six before your shift.
[SPEAKER_05]: That's a good joke for all those 55-year-old men out there.
[SPEAKER_05]: I now, this is Mount the Hoopold, the song is called All the Way from Memphis, and I love this record.
[SPEAKER_05]: It's just a blast.
[SPEAKER_05]: So check it out as you celebrate Labor Day.
[SPEAKER_05]: We can thank you for letting me spend it with you with a little bit of Rob Radio.
[SPEAKER_03]: For God my sixth ring right now, hit the sky, and that way to Memphis for our people.
[SPEAKER_03]: I rang the information, my ex was cold They said shit, that's a dread to audio Now it's a money law, way down the dusty tray And the sun burns, so I'll come and go to bed And I'll look like a former crow, like a snail All the way to bed
